MTU down the memory lane
It is going to stay in my memory as one of the happiest moment in life for a long long time.
Started out as a "stranger" and "uncle" team, we suffured a setback by losing our very first game, making us pondering our confidence for a while before the next game.
But with a little bit of luck, teamwork, team strategy, kind intention and a little bit of brawl, we beat the odd and emerged as champ at the end.
It is a very sweet victory for all of us. I bet everyone of us agreed that since we had graduated from university, and the bsb team members has dispersed into working life, we have never thought of being able to taste the sweetness of victory together again. But, we were grateful that we were able to last weekend, although it is only just among 4 of us, but I can’t be too greedy right? I hope that by penning it down and sharing it out would eventually reach the other team members, reminding us of our bond/memory that we used to had together when we played MASUM nearing a decade back already =)
some words from mememe...
YC: you surprised me with your sudden elevated aggressiveness and hustle defense in the semi & final game. Although the opponent has the advantage of height over you by certain degree, it is obvious that your will to win exceeded your opponent. You are no more the player who got "cold" when facing the real tournament long long time ago. I guessed the working life that you were thrown-in in the past years, where you have to face public presentation and exhibition, as well as more exposure to outside bsb games has change all of that =)
MY: you are still having the same old look (likewise me as well), still as fit as always (but not me), the way you speak is still the same, only that your free-throw is a little lacking after me now, haha... But my free-throw not that good either =) Your aggressiveness and will to win is unparallel as well. Also, congratulation to you for building a family soon =) btw, if you got kid in the future and is a boy, can I call him "zhu zai"? and I can teach him play basketball =)
Carmen: not forgetting our sole and loyal MTU supporter throughout the day. Don’t look down at her only because she is small in size. She just came back from climbing Mt KK with YC, and she stood as tall as 3 of us guys. Thank you for taking all these beautiful photos for us to look back and treasure. Thank you for waking up so early with us and staking out with us one whole day. I understand that the dinner and hamper goodies don’t really make-do, therefore felt a little guilty *_* will try to make-up =)
Me: I am just glad to be champ and with the less/little injury sustained. I admit for being a bit relaxed and soft when playing the 3on3. I restrained, and only play tough when needed, probably because trying to avoid injury. Undeniably, we are not twenty something anymore. At times, winning or losing doesn’t really matter that much anymore, because the journey with you guys matters the most, and it is not that often I can play bsb with you guys anymore. Of course, winning can add some icing to the journey, like what we have here right now. One thing for sure, winning the 3on3, I felt as if good deed does have it’s reward sometimes =)
Lastly, I must mentioned that this Nilai Inti 3on3 basketball game is co-organized by the Nilai Inti University College & Fong Yew School students, with the goal to collect fund/donation for one of the student, who got diagnosed with cancer recently at the age of 20. A great effort by them.
three uncles, one supporter, a one-time 3on3 experience near the age of thirties in a University College, a champ feeling down the memory lane for beating the NBL MVP Chris from team Outlaw, priceless... =)

drunken ankle
After the 3on3 basketball game over the weekend, I am having some little problem/pain with my left ankle again. Not that I sprained it or anything, but the little pain on my left ankle comes and goes.
So, as soon as I am back to Penang this evening, I went to pay a visit to the sensei again.
After some checking, the sensei deduced that the left joint on my left ankle might having some soft tissue injury. Dont have the detail though.
Looking at the past treatment doesnt really help, sensei said that he would like to try some other type of "medicine". He then pulled out a bag from a corner of the room. In the bag, he pulled out yet another plastic bag that is actually a ball of sticky medicine to be pasted on my ankle. Is no doubt one of the sensei "secret recipe"
While he was wrapping up my ankle with bandage, he then asked me "Do you have rice liquor?"
"What? Rice liquor? To drink?" I replied.
"Nonono... This medicine is different. It can dry easily and can cause itchiness. You need to pour some rice liquor on the bandage every 2 hours to make sure it is wet" sensei explained.
Sensei also adviced me to wet the bandage with rice liquor before I sleep at night and I can put a sheet of plastic bag on my bed for my left ankle so that it wont dirty the bed with liquor.
Really interesting. First time I heard of such treatment. I was silly enough to ask about drinking the rice liquor at first *_*
So, after the visit, I bought 2 small bottles of rice liquor as below from a sundry shop nearby, and I dare not to tell the shop-owner is for my ankle :)
So, there you have it. I am gonna make my left ankle to take a "sip" of rice liquor every 2 hours, and a certain amount of it before sleep.
Of course, the best remedy for recovery is to really take a good rest. Guess I will be missing out from basketball as well as exercise sessions for quite a while, that is until my ankle felt better, at least for a couple of weeks.
Damn, I envy my drunken ankle below while I am sober "p
Come to think of it, alchohol is flammable. What if there is a spark near my left ankle?
"drunken ankle" become "roasted ankle"? Oouch... "p

Started as a small initiative by one of the colleague, more than 10 colleagues turned up at the end, including me the camera man :)
Turns out, I am glad that I went yesterday :) I was indeed a very fun session. Lots of fun and laughter :) Must share.
